At Universal Orlando Resort, most rides do not allow bags. No putting them at your feet or holding them on your lap like at Disney World. While there are free short-term lockers all over the parks, who wants to deal with lockers at every single ride? That’s where lanyards come in. They aren’t just for pin trading! Get one with a pouch and you could store room keys, park tickets, Express Pass, My Universal Photos card, dining cards, ID, and a credit card.
Wearing a lanyard may not seem fashionable, but many people end up spending vacation money in the gift ship on their first day for a lanyard once they realize just how beneficial they are.
You will need to show your cards multiple times a day. You will need to flash your room key card or travel agency-issued park ticket for early morning access to the parks. You will need your ticket for entering the park. You will need your ticket to board the Hogwarts Express and park hop. You’ll need show your Express Pass or premier hotel room ticket at the entrance of each Express Pass line. And, you will need to show your My Universal Photos card every time you have a photo taken with a photographer, selfie station, and the exit of some rides. That is A LOT of digging around in your park bag, and these are just some examples of when you will need to show your cards.
There are so many fandoms associated with Universal: Harry Potter, superheroes, Jurassic Park, The Simpsons, Dr. Suess… and lanyards around the parks, resorts, and CityWalk to match everyone’s interest. You’re going to want a lanyard, why not pick one that matches your biggest interest, such as your Hogwarts House?
PRO TIP: Universal offers some awesome lanyards at the parks, but they are costly. If you want to save some money, grab some BEFORE your trip at your local big box store, on Amazon or sometimes even at your local Dollar store (leaves you more money for Butterbeer!)
