The smallest, and sometimes forgotten, land in the Magic Kingdom is Liberty Square. This land will transport you back to 18 century, Colonial America. As you are immersed in American history, you will encounter historic replicas (such as one of the Liberty Bell), be surrounded by Colonial and Federal style buildings, and see every United States president in the Hall of Presidents.
This is your guide to Liberty Square.
Attractions
The Hall of Presidents – See every U.S. President come alive, in audio animatronic form, in this patriotic show. The lobby of this attraction is filled with historic artifacts.
FUN FACT:
THE PRESIDENTIAL SEAL IS ETCHED INTO THE CARPET INSIDE THIS ATTRACTION. IT IS ONE OF ONLY THREE PLACES IN THE COUNTRY THAT THIS SEAL CAN BE FOUND. THE OTHER TWO PLACES ARE THE LIBERTY BELL IN PHILADELPHIA, PA, AND THE OVAL OFFICE, ITSELF, IN THE WHITE HOUSE. IT ACTUALLY TOOK AN ACT OF CONGRESS TO GET THE PRESIDENTIAL SEAL DISPLAYED HERE! THAT’S COMMITMENT!
Haunted Mansion – Get on your “doom buggy,” and encounter all 999 happy haunts in this spooky tour of an old, Gothic style mansion.
Liberty Square Riverboat – Aboard a steam-powered, paddle-wheel riverboat and journey down the Rivers of America. You’ll get some great views of Thunder Mountain, Haunted Mansion, and Tom Sawyer Island, as well as scenic views that can’t always be seen from any other angle.
Dining
TABLE SERVICE RESTAURANTS
Liberty Tree Tavern – Dine in an 18th century, Colonial-style inn. This restaurant is divided into multiple small rooms. The food is served all-you-can-eat family-style. This includes traditional favorites like roasted turkey breast, pot roast, mashed potatoes, and more.
The Diamond Horseshoe – Themed like an Old West music hall, this restaurant is also served all-you-can-eat family-style, and it has close to the exact same menu as Liberty Tree Tavern. Therefore, if you can’t get into Liberty Tree Tavern, then this is a good second choice (or the other way around).
QUICK SERVICE RESTAURANTS
Columbia Harbour House – This counter service restaurant is a little unique because it serves seafood. Lobster Rolls, Grilled Salmon, and Grilled Shrimp are just some of the offerings here.
Liberty Square Market – This is one of the best places in the Magic Kingdom to find a healthy snack! Whole fruit, pickle spears, apple slices, and trail mix are some of the healthier options found here. Although not as healthy, a few Disney park snack staples can also be found here, such as turkey legs, Mickey pretzels, and frozen slushies.
Sleepy Hollow – This little counter service restaurant is all about the waffles and the funnel cakes. It has some unique ways of serving waffles that aren’t offered at other restaurants, such as the Fresh Fruit Waffle Sandwich during breakfast hours, and the Sweet-and-Spicy Chicken Waffle Sandwich during lunch and dinner.
Shopping
Liberty Square Parasol Cart – Located next to Sleep Hollow, this is an outdoor kiosk that sells… you guessed it… Parasols! They are all hand decorated, and you can even have them personalized!
Liberty Square Portrait Gallery – Another outdoor kiosk, this shop has artists that will draw personal caricatures and silhouettes. This one is located near the Hall of Presidents.
Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe – A fan favorite, this shop sells Christmas merchandise, exclusively, all year long! You will find lots of Disney-themed ornaments, stockings, and Christmas decorations.
Memento Mori – The name of this shop literally means “remember you must die,” but it can also refer to an object that serves as a reminder of death or mortality. So, it makes sense that this is where you will find all of the best, and most unique, Haunted Mansion merchandise. The story is that Madme Leota was a former resident here, after she disappeared, all of her treasures and relics were left behind.

Characters
Mary Poppins is commonly found in this land. A common place to check is at the gazebo behind the Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe. Due to social distancing, if she does make an appearance at this time, it will be from afar.
Conclusion
You hear a lot of talk about the Haunted Mansion and The Hall of Presidents, but you don’t always hear a whole lot about the land that they are located in. While Liberty Square is home to some of the most historically accurate detail in the park, it can get overshadowed by the more fantasy-driven lands, like Fantasyland and Tomorrowland. However, this little section of history, and realism, is part of what makes this area so charming. It’s definitely not an area to skip over!
