Adventureland is the first land that you will run into off to the left on Main Street U.S.A. Adventureland is the land of, well, adventure. With tropical and Arabian themes mixed in, you could end up doing anything, from travelling down a river through the Amazon, to travelling through a pirate cave. There are no big thrill rides in this land, as the name may suggest, but it does contain some of the most iconic and popular attractions in all of Walt Disney World.

This is your comprehensive guide to Adventureland.

Attractions

  • Pirates of the Caribbean – Take a slow boat ride through a Pirate Cove. You will pass by over 100 animatronics. This is one of the most iconic attractions of Walt Disney World. Don’t forget to look for Jack Sparrow!

  • Jungle Cruise – A live skipper will guide you on a boat ride through the Amazon. This ride has become very famous for it’s “dad jokes” and puns. Just keep your hands in the boat, you don’t want to end up like the teacher that is now teaching “shorthand.”

  • Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse – If you need some stair exercise, this is the attraction for you. You will be walking up and down 116 steps on a tour of this famous, shipwrecked family’s home.

  • The Magic Carpets of Aladdin – Very similar to Dumbo the Flying Elephant, this is a spinner attraction. Riders in the front row can control how high the carpets flies, while riders in the back can tip the carpet forward and back. Watch out for the spitting camel!

  • Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room – An animatronic, bird show, where the birds sing words and the flowers croon.

Dining

SIT DOWN RESTAURANTS

  • Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen – Dine with the skippers of the Jungle Cruise, where you will hear the same kind of punny jokes that are featured on the ride.

QUICK SERVICE RESTAURANTS AND SNACKS

  • Tortuga Tavern – This is a seasonal, pirate themed, quick service restaurant. Offerings may change.

  • Aloha Isle – This is where you’ll find the very famous DOLE Whip! Pineapple soft serve ice cream, which you can also have served as a float in pineapple juice. You have to try it, at least, once!

  • Sunshine Tree Terrace – Another soft service ice cream counter. Aside from other delights, this one features the “citrus swirl,” which is frozen orange juice slushy and vanilla soft serve ice cream swirled together.

Shopping

  • Agrabah Bazaar – Get your Arabian-themed and Aladdin souvenirs here

  • Island Supply by Sunglass Hut – As you can imagine, this is the place to find high end sun glasses

  • La Princesa de Cristal – Caribbean Plaza – This is the sister shop to the La Princesa de Cristal that is located in the Mexico Pavillion in Epcot. It features the crystal and glass items and collectibles.

  • Plaza de Sol Caribe Bazaar – This is the shop that you will automatically exit through after riding the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. You’ll find tons of pirates merchandise including, clothing, pins, toys, candy, and more!

Characters

Aladdin, Jasmine, and Captain Jack Sparrow are frequently spotted in this land.

Adventureland is probably one of the most nostalgic areas of the Magic Kingdom, and is one if the least touched areas. It actually went 28 years without adding a new attraction. It wasn’t until 2001 that The Magic Carpets of Aladdin was added. You won’t get your thrill ride fix, but the attractions here are the type that set Disney apart from other theme parks.
